Rocky Mountain College is a Designated Learning Institution and all programs that are taken fully in live classes and practicums are Designated Learning Programs and are eligible to receive foreign nationals on a study permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. All programs are eligible as Designated Learning Programs and eligible to receive foreign nationals on a study permit subject to sufficient enrollment to allow for residential offering; however, all programs that are delivered entirely or partially online are not Designated and are ineligible to receive foreign nationals on a student permit.

International Student Services
Rocky Mountain College serves international students coming to Calgary in the following ways:
- We will assist in orientation to RMC community, the surrounding area and city.
- We will assist with locating suitable accommodation.
- We will assist in counseling support or give links to available counseling support in the community.
- We will assist in finding health and social service supports in the community.
- We will provide these services in a timely fashion.
International students will normally be greeted upon arrival in Calgary and orientation and assistance will begin at that time, but in circumstances where no student life staff members are available, due to arrival occurring on a weekend or statutory holiday, orientation will begin no later than 72 hours after arrival.

- Rocky Mountain College is located in the Brentwood area of Calgary. Immediate surrounding areas also include: Varsity, Dalhousie, Banff Trail, Charleswood, Collingwood and University Heights.
- Rocky Mountain College assumes no liability concerning arrangements made between landlord and tenant. Participants are encouraged to enter a contractual arrangement.
Rocky Mountain College (RMC) assists students who request counselling assistance through referrals to area agencies and professions. The Calgary urban context provides extensive resources for individual or group assistance. RMC provides care, encouragement and additional support resources when needed.

RMC enjoys a partnership with the City of Calgary that provides career planning, workshops and support services as students seek employment during their student years, and after graduation. Field Education experiences help students develop hands–on skills that are so important in today’s job market. The extensive resources available in Calgary provide an expanded practical experience available only in an urban centre.

Health and Social Service
Medical services are available through a number of clinics near the campus. The nearest hospital is Foothills Medical Centre.
International students must apply for Alberta Health Care coverage upon arrival in Canada. There is a fee for this medical insurance coverage. Go to http://www.health.alberta.ca/AHCIP/temporary-residents.html for more information.
Students from outside Canada, may be eligible for Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) coverage. You will need to apply for AHCIP coverage (http://www.health.alberta.ca/AHCIP/forms.html). Students under 18 years of age must be added to the AHCIP account of a custodian.
Students who have a 12-month Study Permit (valid for an Alberta educational institute) and who will reside in Alberta for 12 months or more are eligible for AHCIP coverage.
- Students with Study Permits valid for more than 3 months, but less than 12 months, may be eligible for AHCIP coverage if their application is accompanied by a letter from the student confirming their intent to reside in Alberta for at least 12 months.
- If the application is received within 3 months of entry into Alberta, coverage is effective on the date of either entry into Alberta or the date signed on the Study Permit, whichever is later. When your Canada entry document expires, your AHCIP coverage will end. If your Canada entry document changes from a work or study permit to a visitor permit, you may no longer be eligible for AHCIP coverage.
- All students at RMC who do not have AHCIP coverage will be required to purchase private health care insurance through guard.me International Insurance (www.guard.me). The College arranges for this coverage and the fee is billed to the student.
International Students Tuition Payments and Refunds
Tuition for International Students who have a Study Permit is payable in the following manner:
- 35% of semester tuition is due on the Semester Fee Payment Deadline (Friday before classes commence)
- 25% of semester tuition is due on the Last Day to Withdraw from a Course with a Voluntary Withdrawal grade (approximately 60% of the way through a semester – see the Academic Calendar for exact date in each semester)
- 40% of semester tuition is due on the Last Day of Classes in the semester
Grades and transcripts will not be issued until all tuition fees have been paid.
- Refunds for International Students who have a Study Permit will be paid to the student or organization which originally paid the tuition. Refunds for International Students who have a Study Permit are payable according to the following schedule:
- Full refund of the first installment, minus a $20 administration fee, will be paid if a student officially withdraws within the first 10% of the course time or access, 50% refund of the first installment, minus a $20 administration fee, will be paid if a student officially withdraws within the first 30% of the course time or access.
- No refund of the second or third installments will be provided.
