High School Graduates
To enroll in any Pathways programs most students will need:
- A valid High School diploma from any government-recognized North American high school, or from any private school accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), or high school equivalency (GED). High School transcripts must present:
- Four 30-1 level courses (or equivalents) with a minimum grade average of 65%.
- Two of the 30-1 level courses must be English 30-1 and Social 30-1 or equivalent.
- Two personal references.
- A written statement of your spiritual history.
These items, along with the Application Fee, must be provided in order to complete your application for admission. Contact the Enrolment Office for more details.
The College recognizes that individual understanding of a personal faith commitment varies. The Admissions Committee may admit students who are unsure or unclear of their relationship with Jesus Christ, provided they indicate a potential to profit from the RMC experience and are willing to abide in accordance with the College's policies on student life.
Academic Probation
A student may be admitted on academic probation and is limited to enrolling in the one-year Certificate in Christian Discipleship program for the first semester if the student’s high school transcript presents:
- Four 30-level courses (or equivalents) with a grade average of less than 65%
- English 30/ELA30-1 (or equivalent) with a grade of less than 65%
No High School Diploma
Occasionally, students without high school equivalency may be admitted under special conditions. Contact RMC for more information.
Transferring Students
Students in good standing from accredited post-secondary institutions who meet all other aspects of the general admission requirements can expect admission to RMC. Official post-secondary transcripts will be evaluated for potential transfer credit on a course-by-course basis according to the student’s program requirements. A minimum of 45 credits or one-half the program must be completed at RMC. Click here for more details.
International Students
Rocky Mountain College is a Designated Learning Institution and all programs that are taken fully in live classes and practicums are Designated Learning Programs and are eligible to receive foreign nationals on a study permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. All programs that are delivered entirely or partially online are not Designated and are ineligible to receive foreign nationals on a student permit.

English Competency
International students who have completed an academic high school program comparable to the Alberta program and who possess proficiency in oral and written English will be considered for admission. Students for whom English is not a first language are required to present validation of facility in English by one of the following:
- a minimum score of 550 on the paper based test; 213 on the computer based test; or New Internet Based TOEFL (iBT) with minimum of 83 overall, with a score of 20 in each of four testings, within the last three years, is required for admission. TOEFL examination information can be accessed from Educational Testing Service, TOEFL/TSE Publications, P.O. Box 6151, Princeton, New Jersey 08541-6154 USA or www.toefl.org;
- a score of 7 using the Academic Reading and Writing Modules on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the last three years;
- a score of 70 on the Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) within the last three years; or
- successful completion of at least two years of formal, full-time study, consisting of not less than three courses per semester at an English secondary or post-secondary institution in an English-speaking country which Rocky Mountain College recognizes as English language proficiency exempt, during the five consecutive years immediately preceding the session to which the student is applying for admission.
Immigrant status
International students must be landed immigrants or possess a valid student authorization to study in Canada. To obtain a student authorization, an American student may present an official letter of acceptance from RMC and evidence of sufficient funds for the school term to the Canadian Immigration authorities at the port of entry into Canada or may make application to the nearest Canadian consulate.
An applicant from a country other than the United States must possess a valid student authorization before leaving his / her home country, and should present an official letter of acceptance from RMC, evidence of sufficient funds for the school term, a letter from a sponsoring organization (if applicable), a certificate of medical clearance for those from specified areas of the world, and a valid passport to the nearest Canadian consulate. Health Care
International students must apply for Alberta Health Care coverage upon arrival in Canada. There is a fee for this medical insurance coverage. Go to http://www.health.alberta.ca/AHCIP/temporary-residents.html for more information.
Students from outside Canada, may be eligible for Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) coverage. You will need to apply for AHCIP coverage (http://www.health.alberta.ca/AHCIP/forms.html). Students under 18 years of age must be added to the AHCIP account of a custodian.
- Students who have a 12 month Study Permit (valid for an Alberta educational institute) and who will reside in Alberta for 12 months or more are eligible for AHCIP coverage.
- Students with Study Permits valid for more than 3 months, but less than 12 months, may be eligible for AHCIP coverage if their application is accompanied by a letter from the student confirming their intent to reside in Alberta for at least 12 months.
- If the application is received within 3 months of entry into Alberta, coverage is effective on the date of either entry into Alberta or the date signed on the Study Permit, whichever is later. When your Canada entry document expires, your AHCIP coverage will end. If your Canada entry document changes from a work or study permit to a visitor permit, you may no longer be eligible for AHCIP coverage. All students at RMC who do not have AHCIP coverage will be required to purchase private health care insurance through guard.me International Insurance (www.guard.me). The College arranges for this coverage and the fee is billed to the student.
International Students Tuition Payments and Refunds
Tuition for International Students who have a Study Permit is payable in the following manner:
- 35% of semester tuition is due on the Semester Fee Payment Deadline (Friday before classes commence)
- 25% of semester tuition is due on the Last Day to Withdraw from a Course with a Voluntary Withdrawal grade (approximately 60% of the way through a semester – see the Academic Calendar for exact date in each semester)
- 40% of semester tuition is due on the Last Day of Classes in the semester
Grades and transcripts will not be issued until all tuition fees have been paid.
Refunds for International Students who have a Study Permit will be paid to the student or organization which originally paid the tuition. Refunds for International Students who have a Study Permit are payable according to the following schedule:
- Full refund of the first installment, minus a $20 administration fee, will be paid if a student officially withdraws within the first 10% of the course time or access, 50% refund of the first installment, minus a $20 administration fee, will be paid if a student officially withdraws within the first 30% of the course time or access.
- No refund of the second or third installments will be provided.
International Student Services
Rocky Mountain College serves international students coming to Calgary in the following ways:
- We will assist in orientation to RMC community, the surrounding area and city.
- We will assist with locating suitable accommodation.
- We will assist in counseling support or give links to available counseling support in the community.
- We will assist in finding health and social service supports in the community.
- We will provide these services in a timely fashion.
International students will normally be greeted upon arrival in Calgary and orientation and assistance will begin at that time, but in circumstances where no student life staff members are available, due to arrival occurring on a weekend or statutory holiday, orientation will begin no later than 72 hours after arrival.

- Rocky Mountain College is located in the Brentwood area of Calgary. Immediate surrounding areas also include: Varsity, Dalhousie, Banff Trail, Charleswood, Collingwood and University Heights.
- Rocky Mountain College assumes no liability concerning arrangements made between landlord and tenant. Participants are encouraged to enter a contractual arrangement.
Counseling Support
Rocky Mountain College (RMC) assists students who request counselling assistance through referrals to area agencies and professions. The Calgary urban context provides extensive resources for individual or group assistance. RMC provides care, encouragement and additional support resources when needed.

Career Development
RMC enjoys a partnership with the City of Calgary that provides career planning, workshops and support services as students seek employment during their student years, and after graduation. Field Education experiences help students develop hands–on skills that are so important in today’s job market. The extensive resources available in Calgary provide an expanded practical experience available only in an urban centre.
